Who we are

About KBASC

Kemnay Breakfast and After School Club is a community charity providing out-of-school care for children at Kemnay Primary School. We're known locally as KBASC, Kemnay Breakfast Club and Kemnay After School.

Our purpose

We exist for the children and families of Kemnay. Our charitable purposes, set out in our constitution, are:

  • to promote the care and education of children who need care outside school hours and during the school holidays; and
  • to provide recreational facilities and organise recreational activities that improve the lives of the children who use them.

In practice, that means a safe, warm and fun place before and after school and in the holidays, so children can play, rest, make friends and learn, and parents and carers can work knowing their children are happy.

What we offer

Breakfast Club

Breakfast and quiet play before school.

After School

Play, outdoor time, crafts and a snack.

Holidays

Full-day care during school holidays.

Our finances

Income and spending reported to OSCR, years ending 31 March.

2022
Income £55,820
Spent £57,609
2023
Income £61,144
Spent £69,719

In both years, caring for children cost more than we took in. That's why community support through our lottery and donations matters so much.

How we're run

Volunteer trustees

KBASC is governed by a voluntary board of charity trustees, mostly local parents, who give their time for free and take responsibility for the club's direction, finances and safeguarding.

Caring staff

Our team of four looks after the children every day. They know each child by name and work closely with the school and with families.

Accountable

As a registered charity we report to the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). You have the right to ask us for our latest accounts and our constitution.

Could you be a trustee? We're always glad to hear from parents and Kemnay residents with a few hours a month to spare. Get in touch.

Age limit and responsible gambling

You must be 18 or over to play the KBASC Lottery. The law in Great Britain makes it an offence for anyone under 16 to take part in a lottery; we set a stricter 18+ rule and check the age of every player. Underage entries are cancelled, refunded and any prize is forfeited.

Gambling should be fun. Only play with money you can afford to lose, set a limit and stick to it. If it stops being fun, stop.
