Since the beginning

Our story

From a small after school club run by local parents to a charitable organisation caring for Kemnay's children from breakfast to home time.

  1. The beginning

    Kemnay After School Club

Local families set up Kemnay After School Club, registered as Scottish charity SC029473, to give children a safe and happy place to go after school while parents worked.

  2. Growing

    Breakfast and holiday care

As demand grew, the club added a breakfast club before school and care during the school holidays, becoming Kemnay Breakfast and After School Club.

  3. 21 October 2020

A new legal home: the SCIO

The club became Kemnay Breakfast and After School Club SCIO, registered Scottish charity SC050536. As a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, the club has its own legal identity, which protects trustees and puts the club on a secure footing.

  4. After registration

    Handing over

The original Kemnay After School Club passed all of its assets and liabilities to the new SCIO and was wound up, so the work carried on without a break for families.

  5. 2022 to 2023

    Busier than ever

Income grew from £55,820 to £61,144, but rising costs meant we spent £69,719 in the year to March 2023, more than we raised.

  6. November 2026

    The KBASC Lottery

To build a steady, reliable income, we're launching a monthly community lottery. The first draw is on Friday 27 November 2026.

  7. Today

    Still here for Kemnay

Our four staff and volunteer trustees continue to care for Kemnay's children every school day and in the holidays.

What we're working towards

  • Keeping places affordable for every Kemnay family
  • New outdoor and play equipment
  • More holiday trips and activities
  • A financial cushion so the club is secure for years to come

Age limit and responsible gambling

You must be 18 or over to play the KBASC Lottery. The law in Great Britain makes it an offence for anyone under 16 to take part in a lottery; we set a stricter 18+ rule and check the age of every player. Underage entries are cancelled, refunded and any prize is forfeited.

Gambling should be fun. Only play with money you can afford to lose, set a limit and stick to it. If it stops being fun, stop.
